This Didn't Start With a Business Plan. It Started With a Bucket and a Hose.
Back in high school in Michigan, I got my start the way a lot of people do: working car washes. Not the easy kind either. We’re talking Saturdays where a thousand cars rolled through in a single day. You learn fast in that environment, or you don’t last.
That job turned into something bigger. The owner of one of the largest car washes in the area personally trained me to detail, and that skill eventually put me on Ford Motor Company’s radar. When their dealership staff got overloaded prepping vehicles, I was one of the people brought in to help. Paint correction, full detail work, headlights on used car lots, all of it. I was doing 20-plus vehicles a week at one point, and there’s no faking your way through that kind of volume. Either the work holds up or it doesn’t.
From There, It Just Never Really Stopped
After that chapter, I ran mobile detailing services on my own for about five years. It grew fast, mostly through referrals, to the point where I was juggling it alongside a full-time job and had to pump the brakes.
But the work never actually went away. Since then, I’ve kept detailing cars for friends, family, and neighbors, the way it tends to go when people find out you’re good at something and won’t stop asking.
Why No Yellow Headlights, and Why Now
Headlights kept coming up more than anything else. They’re one of the most overlooked parts of a car, they matter for safety, and most people don’t know they can be restored instead of replaced. So I decided to formalize what I’ve quietly been doing for years and build a business around the one service that makes the biggest difference for the least amount of money: headlight restoration, done right, at your driveway or office parking lot.
I’ll be straight with you: No Yellow Headlights is a new business. But the hands doing the work aren’t new to any of this. That’s an important difference, and it’s one I don’t think you should have to just take my word for. It’s why I stand behind every job.
